Televised Nationwide Sunday, April 25, on gmc

(Nashville, Tenn.) Apr. 22, 2010 ñ Awards were given out last night at the Grand Ole Opry House for the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards with celebrated Nashville-based singer/songwriter Brandon Heath scoring two wins, including the prestigious Male Vocalist of the Year honor for the second year in a row. The televised show will air nationwide on gmc Sunday, April 25, from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. EST.

Heath notes, ìI think this year Iím most thankful to the GMA for their commitment to stand with us and for us as artists whose voices are being heard. I happily accept this award and am truly proud to be a member of such a musically diverse family.î

One of the highlights of the eveningís performances came when Brandon Heath collaborated with Jars of Clay on ìTwo Hands,î the bandís Song of the Year nominated tune. These two acts will be touring together this fall and sharing their passion for people in need.

Heathís back-to-back Male Vocalist titles follow his 2008 breakthrough New Artist of the Year win. Last night he also secured a Dove for his participation on Glory Revealed II: The Word of God In Worship, winner in the Special Event Album of the Year category. Heath was also nominated for Short Form Video of the Year for ìWait And See,î the second chart-topping single from his sophomore album, What If We.

2009 was a huge year for Brandon, nominated for two GRAMMY awards, and his first American Music Award, in addition to walking away with three awards at last yearís Dove Award ceremony, including Song of the Year for his hit song ìGive Me Your Eyesî the blockbuster lead single from What If We.

Having captured 14 weeks at No.1 on Billboardís Hot Christian AC radio chart, plus 27 weeks at No. 1 on iTunes Christian Song Chart, with 450,000 total digital downloads, ìGive Me Your Eyesî was also recently used by NASA as the wake-up call for the Endeavour shuttle crew on their first day in orbit.

Emmy-Award winning, GRAMMY and American Music Award nominated, Brandon Heath holds multiple Dove Awards including the Male Vocalist and Song of the Year (2009) categories. The Nashville native was featured on the ìCBS Evening News with Katie Couric,î while also spotlighted in the Sunday edition of The New York Times as a GRAMMY-nominated newcomer ìthat shouldn't be allowed to slip through the cracks.î

Heath released his sophomore album, What If We (8/2008), yielding two No.1 singles, ìWait and Seeî, and the blockbuster ìGive Me Your Eyesî which was selected by NASA as the wake-up song for the orbiting Endeavour shuttle crew on Feb. 8, 2010. The albumís third single ìLove Never Failsî recently moved into the Top 20 at Billboardís AC Monitored radio chart. Heathís 2006 debut, Donít Get Comfortable, produced the No.1 radio hit, ìIím Not Who I Was,î which contributed to his New Artist of the Year Dove Award win.

Off stage, Heath seeks opportunities to merge his public platform with his heart for community, regularly working with Young Life, Blood:Water Mission, Restore International and unofficially volunteering for many other human rights agencies on a global scale.
